It was nearly 18 months in the
making...The Homecoming Of The 278th! From touching down in Mississippi
to stepping off the bus in downtown Crossville...our heroes had one thing on
their minds:
Get back home.

Here, the 278th begins getting off the plane that
brought them from IRAQ to the good ole USA!

They're greeted by their peers...but a few long days
later, it's time to head back home.

The WOW Cow was on hand to play Today's Country And
The Legends while everyone waited...but soon it was time to load up the van
and hit the road to join the convoy!

With all we had done to help keep the Cumberland
Plateau informed on the 278th through our website and news reports, they
showed their appreciation by honoring our radio station in asking us to join
the convoy that was bringing the 278th back home to their families!

We asked folks to come bearing signs, flags and
ribbons to show their support...and that's just what they did!

The Red, White And Blue was in abundance downtown!

Some of the signs that were made were very touching.

Justin Reed (Above) and Jaxon Reed (Below) display
their signs welcome home Staff Sergeant Rodney Reed. If you've listened
to The 278th Welcome Home Remix of Lonestar's "Not A Day Goes By",
then you know little Jaxon's first words!

Some folks even brought balloons welcoming their
loved ones back!

Our own Ronni Chase even got into the sign making
action!

PatriOtter was even back on hand to help celebrate
the event. Nice boots!

When the guys get off the bus, they are greeted with
lots of love and hugs from their loved ones they've been away from for so
long!

It was a time for tears of joy and meeting someone
for the first time.

The anxious crowd gathers to see their brothers,
sisters, husbands and fathers officially dismissed.

While the soldiers look on with some guest speakers
on hand, loved ones hold on tightly to the ones they've missed so very much!

Of those speaking was Peg Broadcasting's own Steve
Sweeney, who had an instrumental part in organizing the day's events.
Steve is always there for the community he has grown up in and been a part of
for nearly all of his 175 years.

After the hugs and kisses and ceremony, it's time for
the important business...picture taking. We obviously were doing that
the whole time.

The ceremonial lighting of the community Christmas Tree
was included in the day's events!
