101st Airborne soldier dies in non-combat incident in Iraq

- A soldier with the 101st Airborne Division has died in Iraq from what the Department of Defense says were injuries sustained during a non-combat-related incident. The Department of Defense said in a news release Sunday that 35-year-old Chief Warrant Officer 2 Lee M. Smith, of Arlington, Texas, died Nov. 11 at Camp Taji. Smith was assigned to the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade at Fort Campbell. He was supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, a combined joint task force focused on combating the Islamic State group in Iraq and Syria. The incident is under investigation. Further details haven't been released.


Another Piper PA32 Crash

Last Tuesday a Piper PA32 went down in Warren County, Tennessee killing two people. Now officials in Kentucky are trying to determine why a Piper PA32 crashed Sunday afternoon near Glasgow killing 4 people. The victims have been identified as Dr. Kyle Stewart, Doug Whitaker, Scott Foster and his fifteen-year-old son, Noah Foster. The four were reportedly returning from a hunting trip in Tennessee.


Crossville City Council Meets Tuesday, November 14

UT Fires Butch Jones

Coach Butch Jones has been fired after Tennessee lost all six of its conference games this season, including five in a row. Saturday's 50 to 17 loss to the Missouri Tigers appears to have been the final straw. Jones will get an $8.125 million buyout. UT has named Brady Hoke interim head football coach. Tennessee hosts LSU on Saturday, November 18. The Kick-Off Call-In Show will begin at 4:30 p.m. CT and game-time is set for 6 p.m. on 102.5 WOW Country.
